What the Sellers Loved About Living Here

Dear Home Buyer,

We were introduced to the joy of houseboats in 1988 through a friend and if we weren’t traveling with him we would houseboat sit for him. Then when our four children were out of college and launched, we decided to find our own floating home.

We looked at many floating homes on the lake before finding this one on this spot. When found, we loved the location and views but not the houseboat. We had our good friends (architect & designer) help us design what has been a perfect fit for us these last 26 years.

We have enjoyed the community & have hosted an annual Halloween party for our dock neighbors. We love jumping in our kayaks to tour the lake & visiting our friends that also live on houseboats.

It is like living in a vacation spot every day. We hope the next owners enjoy it as much as we have & I am sure they will.

Welcome to The Log Foundation houseboat dock in Seattle WA

Consisting of 52 floating homes, the Log Foundation is the largest houseboat co-operative in Seattle. Three docks make up the co-operative: 2017, 2019, and 2025 Fairview Ave E.

The co-op purchased the three docks from Freeman-Gibson-Jeffery in 1984 for $2.6 million. A unique aspect of the purchase was the graduated price scale which allowed nearly half of the sites to sell for $40,000 even though the whole dock's price actually works out to $50,000 per site. "Reverse mortgages" also made it possible for a number of retired and fixed-income people to keep their homes.
